About Me

  • I am an undergraduate at China, majoring software engineering.
  • I started with Linux at about Dec. 2007. I tried Fedora and shortly changed to Ubuntu.
  • At that time I began trying to join the upstream GNOME community. I am now on the right way since I got commit permission on bugzilla and git, and became a GSoC student for GNOME
  • As to Foresight, I would say many thanks to Martin who introduced me here and who is always helping me much. Don't remember when I first tried Foresight, but my first message on #foresight is at Aug 21 14:42:42, 2008

Contributions

  • I maintain some telepathy related packages in my personal repo. Say telepathy-glib, telepathy-gabble, telepathy-python, telepathy-doc, telepathy-inspector, telepathy-spec. (Since these are a must for my GSoC project
  • Other packages I made or updated include,
    • python source checkers like pylint and pyflakes
    • packages useful to Chinese, like scim, stardict and wqy-zenhei (Chinese font).
    • Cheetah, awesome, cellwriter, centerim, cunit, epydoc, gtkparasite, tomoe.
  • I help Ken to maintain the Gnome Developer Kit, where some packages can be useful to Foresight too. I mean the packages from GNOME and also GNOME's external dependencies like clutter, clutter-gtk, telepathy-glib, etc.
  • I created several pages for Chinese on the wiki(though unfortunately it can't be displayed).

Future goals

  • I would continue maintaining some of Foresight's packages.
  • I will have more free time the next semester and I want to be more involved in Foresight.
  • Learn more of conary, e.g. groups.
  • Keep the GNOME Dev Kit up to date and make it mature (goal is jhbuild). So it can be not only useful to GNOME developers, but also to Foresight's packaging.
  • Together with Martin, make Foresight good enough for average Chinese users, e.g the must-have packages, fonts, Chinese translation of the wiki.
  • Be active on our JIRA
