Topics to be discussed during the Council Meeting for July 28th, 2009.

Location: #foresight-council
Time: 13:00 UTC

 Agenda:

  1. Announcements
  2. Last meeting overview
  3. Proposed topics
  4. Proposed members/developers
  5. Next Week's Agenda

Announcements:

  • Web site updated to WordPress 2.8.2 (thanks for the push afranke)
  • Release notes for the latest versions of all editions have been posted to the blog and links to them have been added on the corresponding pages (by afranke)

Last meeting overview:

Proposed topics:

  • debate revising Foresight focus/features/offerings, adapting to available resources
    • Time for a newer, revised, realistic Road Map? (OgMaciel)
(The current road map mentions Foresight 2.1 as the target and points to this page.)
    • there are a number of things that currently depend on ken or doniphon. some of these may be bottlenecks, some may not be. i'd like to start working out a list of what these things are and later expand it with details like: why is this task limited to ken or doniphon? what would be required from someone else to handle this task (experience, trust, access to certain machines)? is this task a bottleneck (does work stop if it is not handled?) ? etc...
    • my hope is that with bringing this information out into the open it will be easier to understand why somethings things are not moving forward, and more importantly it will allow others to see what they can do to help
    • What are our bottlenecks? (eMBee)
    • what are we best at ?
    • Get REAL QA, with a commited QA team, with deterministic procedures
    • attract new developers
  • We need either volunteers or machinery to test Xorg improvements for nVidia, ATi and Intel cards! (OgMaciel)
  • What should go in the Word Press web site and what should go in the wiki? (OgMaciel)
  • Infrastructure updates
    • Enhancement suggestion for the website content (afranke)
    • Update on SSL certificate for wiki (afranke)
    • Update on upgrade to newer version of confluence (ermo)
      • Last I heard, gxti had been and was going to be insanely busy. Is this still the case?
  • Artwork (Mark__T)
    • Clarify the licenses of our artwork
    • Make sure we have artwork in wikipedia tolerated licenses
    • Maintain artwork and screenshots in commons.wikipedia.org, so that they can be used for all languages
  • Packaging Contest (Mark__T)
    • What happend to the result? How to proceed?
    • How can we as a team help test the new toolchain?

Proposed members/developers:

  • int:
    • he does kde stuff. (he is defacto already a developer, but this has never been acknowledged)
      • He has my vote for sure (OgMaciel)
      • Ack³ (doniphon)
